Math Activity

Hello,

Please share the standard you will select for your math activity.

When you look at the California Math Standards you will notice the concept at the top in BOLD followed by a description of the topic. The next part contains the number followed by the standard. The part in blue is the ACTUAL standard you will use to create your three activities. The BOLD is not a standard.

See below:

Probability and Statistics
This discipline is an introduction to the study of probability, interpretation of data, and fundamental statistical problem solving. Mastery of this academic content will provide students with a solid foundation in probability and facility in processing statistical information.

1.0
Students know the definition of the notion of independent events and can use the rules for addition, multiplication, and complementation to solve for probabilities of particular events in finite sample spaces.

12.0 - Students simplify fractions with polynomials in the numerator and denominator by factoring both and reducing them to the lowest terms.

  4. I will be addressing the following from the 7th Grade Measurement and Geometry Standards.

3.3 Know and understand the Pythagorean theorem and its converse and use it to find the length of the missing side of a right triangle and the lengths of other line seg ments and, in some situations, empirically verify the Pythagorean theorem by direct measurement.

  5. I will be addressing Standard 7th Grade Number Sense 2.1 - Understand negative whole-number exponents. Multiply and divide expressions
involving exponents with a common base.

  6. Algebra I standard 2.0 which deals with reciprocals, roots, and fractional powers.

  7. Algebra 1 Standard 6.0-
Students graph a linear equation and compute the x- and y-intercepts (e.g., graph 2x+6y=4). They are also able to sketch the region defined by linear inequality (e.g., they sketch the region defined by 2x+6y<4)

  8. Geometry 10.0 Students compute areas of polygons, including rectangles, scalene triangles, equilateral triangles, rhombi, parallelograms, and trapezoids.

  9. Common Core State Standards for Math, 7th Grade:

    7.EE Expressions and Equations

    a. Solve word problems leading to equations of the form px + q = r and p(x + q) = r, where p, q, and r are specific rational numbers.

    Yay for word problems!

  10. Common Core State Standards for Math, High School:

    Functions: intrepreting functions F-IF

#9: Compare properties of two functions each represented in a different way (algebraically, graphically, numerically in tables, or by verbal descriptions).
